Feel Motivated To Give Blood?
So this morning, the news is on while I’m catching up on a bit of work. A commercial for the Blood Center came on and caught my attention. The music was catchy and I knew something was going to happen…
As I watched, I became confused about the message that the Blood Center was trying to convey. Some jerk guy, sipping on a Starbucks, hurry’s to shut an elevator door before an elderly lady carrying boxes can make it.
My first thought was “Who would do that”? Seriously. I know there are jerks in the world, but there wasn’t even a point to the guy being rude. If someone was that inconsiderate, the message to redeem himself by giving blood would most certainly fall on deaf ears.
Most people aren’t like the rude guy, so most people won’t relate to the message.
Though the message seems to be targeted to people who they perceived could donate their blood as a way to turn a wrong into a right, those few people wouldn’t care anyway.
The majority of people will be left with thoughts of “jerk” and “poor lady”. Those who could use the message, won’t care.
Mostly likely, no one is left thinking, “Wow, I should give blood today”.
Unfortunately, this commercial doesn’t leave anyone inspired to do much of anything.

Hello Ricci,
Well, you did it again…You pegged TRUTH. Although the commercial was “catchy”…what did they catch? They certainly did not catch my business!
I want to learn from their error! Thanks for the clarity.
Best!
